Example / Playing In The Shadows
‘Example is one of the most startling pop stars in the country, someone who writes airy, melodic pop songs that develop into crunching, beat-driven dubstep, breakbeat and trance-house monsters” The Guardian
It has been a killer year for Example who has well and truly branded 2011 his own. ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’ held the No.1 position in the UK charts for 2 weeks beating rock giants Coldplay to the top and selling in excess of 350K copies, now certified silver and ranked as one of the biggest selling singles of the year.
Earlier this year he featured on the Wretch 32 No.2 smash ‘Unorthodox’ and Giggs’s ‘Look Over Your Shoulder’. He also bagged one of the biggest hype tracks of 2011 with the demon Skream collaboration ‘Shot Yourself in the Foot Again’ which received over 3.5 million YouTube views, climbed to #1 on HypeMachine and became a viral hit across the world. His new single ‘Stay Awake’ out 28th August is produced by dubstep lords Nero and is set to be another huge dance anthem.
The aftermath of all this will culminate in the release of Example’s third studio album ‘Playing In The Shadows’ which features production from the biggest and most credible names in dance music today – Chase & Status, Nero, Michael Woods, Skream and Faithless – out on 5th September.
